How many
times do you wonder if the disciples were the most forgetful people on the
planet? Jesus
fed 5000 men plus women and children and when faced with a similar
situation, the
disciples are at a loss as to how to feed a crowd of 4000.
Jesus had
just taught his disciples that in order to enter the kingdom of heaven, they
must become
like a child. He illustrated his
teaching with a child who was nearby, and yet when Jesus moved on to Judea and
the children wanted to come to Jesus, his disciples tried to stop them.
Had they
forgotten so easily?
Jesus said
let them come. Do not get in their way.
Pay attention. These children
understand
the kingdom
of heaven better than you.
Jesus said,
“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of
heaven belongs to such as these.”
Amen.
